March 15, 2009Im rewinding every time I whispered that in your ear....
NO TWITTER SUNDAY
So I have decided to not Tweet on Twitter on sunday. No Twitter includes: not checking it to see friends updates. Not tweeting. What else? Yeah that's pretty much it. Im drunk off words not written for me but a girl can clearly dream, seems a right of passage, I guess we'll see. A terrible cough from too cold weather last night. Went out with Jeanette to Olive Garden haha. Had a glass and a half of Merlot. Delicious. Had a glass or two maybe three more. I think alcohol happens to be the cause of my insomnia. What? Yes. I took a stroll down memory lane. Random concerts every month in my teens. Nothing much has changed but I now get paid to photograph. No more sneaking cameras in hah. I really enjoying writing things down at 5a.m. When all the world should just be waking up and I'm finally resting my head to the pillow. Xoxo

March 14, 2009well I tripped and I fell....
This is definitely journal worthy:
I FOUND A PAIR OF COWBOY BOOTS FOR 5$ Sarah Saturday can attest to the fact that these are very trendy here in Fresno from her recent show here with her band GARDENING, NOT ARCHITECTURE. So, in conclusion, these boots are an amazing find. I did find a wine holder made out of metal and wire but dnw due to the fact it would not be used. I am booking for photo shoots so feel free to call, txt ( 559. 312. 5374) or eMail ( iriswasabi@gmail.com ) me in regards to setting up a sesh. I will be in S.F. March 17th - 19th if you want to book a sesh contact me. I will let you know my availibility. I will be in L.A. April 10th - 14th I believe so if you're in So Cal hit me up! Starting to laundry, washing clothes for S.F. trip but really not in the mood to do much more. Going out with Jeanette tonight. Dinner, drinks? I didn't get much sleep lastnight. Sweet nap time, here I come.

March 13, 2009Gardening, Not Architecture at Audies Olympic/Club Fred.
It was an interesting night to say the least. Red beards, tattoos, POET and many other things, were all part of what seems to be a typical night for Gardening, Not Architecture.
I met up with Sarah Saturday and her Tour Manager Wyatt, no last name introduction a la Beyonce and Prince, during load in. No roadies, just a skeleton crew of Sarah and her TM. "Gotta set up the merch!" was the answer to my "What's next?" Of course, no Merch Girl or Guy means the band leader and all around musical hub of Gardening, Not Architecture has to set up her own merch display, which tonight seems to be on a Billiards Table. So is the life of a EIY/DIY artist. To most a shirt or button purchased at a local show is a memento of the night and a way to express the love for the band they just saw but to the band selling the merch, sales really do seem to pay for the tour when a DIY band decides to head out on the road. Instead of a luxurious bus paid for with overhead by a record label, DIY bands like GNA head out in a sports utility vehicle or cargo van and hit the road sometimes opting to sleep in the car, crash at a friends or if door and merch sales went well a motel/hotel is on the horizon meaning being able to sleep in a little later and have a nice shower. Obviously a luxury when riding around cramped in a vehicle full of gear and people. Im sure a lot of bands know about this already, but in all honesty I'm more or less writing this so those who aren't fortunate enough to be out on the open road can get a better perspective of their favorite bands "rockstar lifestyle" and yes, it would have been a great idea to get a few more bands in the mix and definitely tell the story through their eyes as well, however, Sarah Saturday in conjunction with EarnItYourself.com, Buzznet.com and MacBeth Shoes have sponsored "Win a Day with Gardening, Not Architecture." That being said, I was able to actually spend a good portion of the evening into wee hours of the morning, with the band and be able to see the ins and outs of the the DIY set. On the road Sarah and Wyatt are able to run a small spectrum of EarnItYourself.com which is actually helping to sponsor bands perform on the Kevin Says Stage on this years 2009 Vans Warped Tour. One lucky band will be handpicked from the masses of applicants and have their chance to be featured not only on EIY Radio and the EIY site, but on the Kevin Says Stage! What more could a unsigned band ask for? Not much, but Sarah and Company deliver a great tool in the marketing and networking of DIY bands: A community with open arms, heaps upon heaps of useful information and a place to showcase the bands talent and writing skills by creating a profile at EarnItYourself.com and not to mention the Radio Show EIY RADIO airs live every Monday night from 8:00PM – 10:00PM at www.EARNITYOURSELF.com and gives listeners the chance to ask questions and get answers because honestly, how will you know if you never ask? And speaking of asking questions, you want to know, how was the show? It was filled with an amazing light show/display which seemed to be in synch with the music. Sarah's vocals were hauntingly melancholy and heartfelt during "The Great Unraveling" and she definitely brought the dance party with "Jabberwocky" both of which can be found on The First EP with a special edition being sold on Gardening, Not Architectures current West Coast Tour. At 2:30AM after the show, sitting at a table with Sarah, Wyatt, Security, Promoters and Members of the headlining band from the nights show, its clearly evident that these are the types who will be prominent in the music industry for years to come. March 12, 2009if this is a test... im wasting my breath
So I've got a pretty busy schedule. I've been helping a friend pack up the office she works at because they're moving to another office haha
Today I get to hang with Sarah Saturday of Gardening, Not Architecture around 6ish and before that I want to get my eyelashes permed. I know that sounds weird, but curling them really does nothing and all they do is stab me in the eyes all day. Not very fun, especially with wearing contacts. I need to go pick up some tickets either tomorrow or this weekend. On Monday night is a new episode of Gossip Girl. Very excited for this. Hopefullly it has a lot of Chuck Bass in it. After Gossip Girl its straight to bed as I have to leave for San Francisco on Tuesday at 5AM jeez louise! Ill probably have all my packing done last minute. That's ok! Tuesday is photographing The Academy Is... for FriendsOrEnemies.com and sweet hangs with friends in the city. Im so exhausted but I can't seem to sleep :( I might go to the movies in a little bit just to turn the brain off for a while. I also need to get an eyeshadow or eyeliner brush. We shall see! Check back tomorrow for a blog of tonight and I promise to update more! :) Xoxo Iris Wasabi

Im currently enrolling in a few certificate type marketing and advertising courses. Well see how it all pans out. Im taking my assessment tests in a few minutes. Kinda weird how I just woke up and was like hmm maybe I'll do this today!

March 1, 2009shakin' in my boots
So of course I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of boots. I really don't know why... but I am and I have been for the past oh.. Year and a half! Jeezlouise. Anyhow, I am now venturing to on our many local malls in Fresno in the quest for the glass slipper. That's what it now feels like!
While I'm out, I'll be picking up my new lomo fisheye camera as well. So excited! I am going to pick up a roll of film from Walgreens on the way. Recently I've been inspired to do more art. I have a passion for photography of all types, but right now I want gritty colorful images. The beginning of Spring has really caused a lot of inner inspiration. You'll see what I mean soon. So I made a line of necklaces dubbed "Wonderland" which feature Strawberry and Mushroom charms with gorgeous colorful feathers as well as peacock feathers. They're selling so fast! And of course at 11$ (that does include shipping!) I'm sure they'll be gone in no time at all! I've begun to wonder why do I blog so much? Should I take a break from the interwebz? I really DON'T know. Hmm... we'll see I guess.
